“Allons! the road is before us!
It is safe – I have tried it – my own feet have tried it well – be not detain’d”
From Songs of the Open Road, by Walt Whitman.
Paths, such as the little one leading down to the shore, say to me “Allons!! Let’s go!”
Of course, I did go … and to my delight happened upon a couple who were fishing from the shore. They were actually camping, in a very large tent, with their big friendly dog, not far away. Seems they enjoyed the quiet times of winter, sitting by a roaring fire late in the evening … maybe with fresh fish.
Anyway, back to Walt:
“Afoot and light hearted I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose.”
Please explain – how does the title relate to the image?

Great poetry … wonderful thoughts …
